WOMEN AT WORK: FRAMER/CARPENTER SASHA KASSIS
What does a day in your work life look like?
Everyday tends to be different. Some days I’m mixing and troweling concrete and the next I could be building a house. I build houses start to finish so needless to stay, it’s usually very busy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    What made you start doing the amazing things that you do?
I was sick of working at a desk and wanted a job that would keep me physically fit and pay the bills after I moved across the country when I was 20.
Did you complete any training? If not, how did you learn your trade/skill?
I didn’t. I just picked things up as I went. I asked questions, listened and observed a lot. I honestly believe that you never stop learning while in the trades.
What did you want to be when you were growing up, or a little kid?
A singer ahah, other then that, I never spent much time stuck on one idea. I did go to college for a few months, studying specialized education, but that was more of a “me trying to make my family proud” kind of decision.
What are you great at, and what do you suck at?
We all have strengths and shortcomings. Tell us about 'em.
I make really nice, precise cuts. ( Yes, I screw up sometimes ) At remembering to wear my safety glasses max
What scares you?
Cuttings rods with angle grinders. My least favorite task.
What are the top five things that are always in your pockets?
A pencil, drill bit, screw(s), lip balm, olfa knife
What are you doing when you’re not working hard?
Surfing, exploring, camping or relaxing at home with my family.
Follow her on IG : sash_the_carpenter
