Women At Work: Tasha Medve

What made you start doing the amazing things that you do?
The Purposeful You all started when my husband and I were expecting our first child. Making conscious purchases and sustainable choices for our family became a huge priority, but it wasn’t as easy as I thought. So, The Purposeful You was born in hopes to share our journey with everyone.

Our family moved to an acreage last year and we built our dream garden! I love inspiring ways to create healthier habits inside and outside of the home through gardening, seasonal eating and the products we choose to bring into our home. I am so passionate about this journey I hope I can sprinkle that passion onto everyone that follows the journey.

What are you great at, and what do you suck at?

Good at: I love collaborating with people, being optimistic, making every work project fun, gardening of course, being on camera (as I do love it!) and educating in an approachable way. I am a big dreamer, big thinker and big goal setter.

What do I suck at? Bookkeeping (I mean I don't think I am alone unless you are a bookkeeper) and measuring. I measure nothing! Hanging a picture, sure I'll eye ball it. Measuring plant spacing, who needs a tape measure I can tell what looks good! I also care what others think and I am working on letting that go! I want to solve everyone's problems or have all the answer to help them but then I realize, I can't please everyone and we are all on our own personal growth journey!

What are the top five things that are always in your pockets?

Gardening gloves, snacks, seed packets, hair elastic and socks (I don't know why but I end up in barefoot often).

How do you encourage other women to start doing what you do?

The blogging and influencer community in the sustainability & garden niche is extremely positive and supportive. I love guiding and encouraging other women in our community to share their journey, their skills and their expertise. I am happy to share what I have learned to help other women succeed and I am an open book. It's never to late to start telling their story. Humans are always learning and people fall in love with people. Encouraging women to express their true authentic selves and lead with passion to create the lifestyle and dream job they deserve!

If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?

Don't wait! Don't wait to change careers, start over, end a friendship, create new friendships, get out of your comfort zone, try something that scares you or wait to invest in personal growth. Life happens fast, health concerns arise all around you and it's just important to follow your gut and heart. I truly believe leading with your values & passion, money and your career follows. Finding your why is so important to live a meaningful and true life.

Do you have any special projects or cool things you want people to check out?

I wrote an e-book on how to plan & grow a backyard kitchen garden. It's geared towards those in their first few years of backyard gardening. My goal is for everyone to start growing food, herbs or flowers to feel the magic of growing and eat quality food! You don't need a large space or backyard to start! The book covers planning, what to grow if you are a beginner, how to grow and when to harvest, plus so much more! What does workwear designed for women mean to you?

It means the outfits fit! There's options for lengths so I don't have to hem the paints as I am 5'1". There's give and take in areas that I need like my hips and bust and I can just tell the intention and thought behind the design. My absolute FAV item right now is the Freshley Overalls in Ultra Light Lichen Green Ripstop. I wear them daily in the garden and even to pick up my kids from school!
