Shorts can be serious. Especially when they’re built off our tricked-out Day Construct pant. We gave this beloved style a summer cut, but kept all the pockets. Packed with purpose, these beauties are the ultimate in women’s ultra light ripstop shorts. Super tough. Quick-drying. Ultra lightweight. Mid-rise front waist, but full booty protection with a higher back rise…because the only crack we like to see is dawn’s!

FABRIC

So light, so strong. Ripstop for the win.

  • Ultra lightweight ripstop cotton
  • Fabric weight: 7 oz
  • Fabric content: 90% cotton/ 8% nylon/ 2% spandex
  • Light stretch
  • Stain-resistant. Get dirty, wash clean.
  • Water-resistant. Shake it off.
  • Quick-dry. No sweat.
  • UPF 50. Throw shade.

These shorts are ultra lightweight, so you can work in the heat and keep your cool. Does lightweight mean wimpy? Hell no. This is Dovetail, people. Ripstop shuts out the sharp shit. A touch of stretch means you can bust your moves in comfort.

CARE

You got 'em dirty, now get 'em clean.

  • Turn inside out.
  • Wash cold.
  • Hang dry. If you must tumble, tumble low to damp dry.

We get it's tempting to wash those dirty shorts in hot water and tumble dry the hell out of them. But like any high-quality tool, this one will last longer with TLC. Heat messes with our special stretch sauces and secret weatherizing potions. And it can shrink, warp, and otherwise damage the fine fabrics that make Dovetail Workwear sturdy, comfortable, and tough on the job. So for a long life, wash cold, and hang dry or tumble low. The planet will thank you too.

Lightweight & Lots of Pockets!

"This is my 4th piece of Dovetail clothing that I’ve purchased. I work in large scale festivals and events and news pants that hold up but also move with me when I need to hustle. My only complaint is that one snap on the back pocket either broke or just fell off after one wear. Not the end of the world, just annoying."

"So many pockets!! Wish the back pockets were just a bit bigger, since phones these days are so big, but so far, very happy."

Tried something other than carhartt

"I was in search of new short that are not short shorts and would have some durability to them without being all spandex/stretch stuff. Found these at the work wear store and tried them on the recommendation of the guy at the till. Bought them and threw them on the next day for yard chores, tromping through the bush for some archery shooting, and some wood working. So far, I love them. I'm 5'4" and wear a size 8. Comments so far: - The length is excellent that if you hop into a hot car, your legs don't get burned on the seat, - the 2 main hand pockets are actually deep enough to fit my full hands. They are not overly wide though and from where the re-enforcement is, so if you put any cash in your pockets it may fall out if you're not paying attention and it gets caught on the back of your hand. - the left side pocket with the zipper is a touch too short to put a wallet into and keep it secure. (would say it's about 3" in depth, 4" or 5" would be better) - the right hand pocket is super deep! Fits phones that are less than 3" wide nicely. My pocket goes all the way to the bottom of the leg compared to the picture on the website. - the pocket on the front of the right leg is a neat thing for keys, but again, it's pretty shallow. Having a loop or something above it that a carabiner can hook onto would be an added feature or make this pocket a touch deeper or a flap that goes over the pocket. - the crotch is not low hanging. Gives enough space for comfort and not chaffing as ones walks around in the heat. - I prefer having 3 belt loops on the back from other shorts and pants so it prevents bunching, but haven't worn these enough to see if they have that issue of not."
