Picture a smokin' hot pipefitter. Because she works in a steam tunnel. Yep, it doesn't get hotter than the radass crew of Facilities women who tested our most lightweight work pant, deep in the bowels of the University of Virginia. Hot, hard work calls for an ultralight, ultra breathable work pant. But it's got to be tough. So we called in micro-ripstop. And radioed for water resistance. Does ultra lightweight mean we skimped on features? As if. We built this pant off our Britt Utility—the most technical work pant for women. But Britt X Ultra Light has even more tool storage, just way less weight. Now that's hot.

Dovenote

Fans of Britt Utility, what's with the X in Britt X? It's just a bit Xtra. Xtra deep pockets. Xtra zip pockets. Xtra hammer loop. Xtra comfort with an EZWaist. Here's an Xtra sentence with Xtra. Yes, we'll stop now because it's Xtra annoying. XO

FABRIC

Do hot work. Don't lose your cool.

Our lightest weight fabric! But you know us: we'd never sacrifice toughness. Abrasion-resistant micro-ripstop shuts out the sharp shit. This fabric is also super breathable and contains a dash of our secret stretch sauce, so you can flex your moves in comfort.

  • Ultra lightweight micro-ripstop
  • Fabric weight: 7 oz
  • Fabric content: 90% cotton / 8% nylon / 2% spandex
  • Light stretch
  • Ultra-breathable. So comfy.
  • Water-resistant. Shake it off.
  • Stain resistant. Get dirty, wash clean.
CARE

You got 'em dirty, now get 'em clean.

We get it's tempting to wash those dirty pants in hot water and tumble dry the hell out of them. But like any high-quality tool, this one will last longer with TLC. Heat messes with our special stretch sauces and secret weatherizing potions. And it can shrink, warp, and otherwise damage the fine fabrics that make Dovetail Workwear sturdy, comfortable, and tough on the job. So for a long life, wash cold, and hang dry or tumble low. The planet will thank you too.

  • Turn inside out.
  • Wash cold.
  • Hang dry.
  • If you must tumble, tumble low to damp dry.

Great pants never in stock

"These are great pants for summer. Would love to buy some more. Unfortunately I have not seen them in stock in my size in quite some time. I managed to find one pair last spring and haven't been able to find them again since. I would love to buy some more - they would become my go to pant if you could reliably keep them in stock. Kind of disappointed, to be honest, and am trying to find a more reliable company to be my new go to."

I can't even return this pair. . .

"I am so frustrated with Dovetail's sizing. Before they "retooled" their sizing, I had issues but eventually figured out I was a size 24. I came back because I needed a lighter non-thermal pair, and I really enjoy the style and pockets. I found an old size guide and a new one, compared them, and figured I was a size 18 in the new size guide. I ordered a size 20 since I bought these on sale, and they didn't fit! At this point, I won't be ordering again unless every pair of pants has a measurement of the rise and waist of the product in the listing. At very least there should always be a rise classification of low, mid, or high for every style! You'd think a woman owned company would understand and address the need for clear sizing!"

Pretty darn good

"Happy with these pants overall. Good stuff: Love the pockets! All kinds & sizes: small coun pocket, front pockets deep enough to actually hold things! Back pockets, 1 zippered back pocket on the inside of the usual back pocket. Side pockets for all kinds of stuff. Left side pocket is large enough to hold any model of cellphone with enough room to reach in and get out too. Material is light but still work oriented. Great for summer. Colour is light enough to not absorb sunshine but dark enough to not look filthy once you wipe your hands on your pants. Not so good stuff: Waist gaps at the back. Just a couple fingers width standing, but basically a hand width when sitting, (see photos). Small pen/pencil sized pocket/slot is sewn into front left leg in the reinforced knee material, but this stitching goes right through the interior and the front pocket, so inside the pocket feels weird as there's a strange stiched divide in it. Entrance to add knee padding is only below the knee and very small. I have to fold padding in half to get it in & then mess around with it to get it to unfold once in place. No adjustment available for placement of knee pads. I wish there was some velcro or something to hold knee pads at different heights, and that the slot to access placement was larger (maybe with a velcro closure or something so the padding doesn't slide out), and I wish there was access from above the knee as well as below. Fit: I'm 5'6" and 140 lbs. 32" length is great, a bit long when standing but perfect when bending. Size 8 works for me. Thighs were quite snug at first but relaxed after wearing for a couple hours. Legs seem almost slim fit rather than straight leg. Overall I think I'll be happy with them after adding a dart or two to the waistband, and thats because I got them on sale. Looking forward to future pants from Dovetail if they continue making adjustments & improvements."

Ripstop pants

"I live this material. I am retired now but my uniform was made of this stuff so I knew how it would fit and wear! Perfect! PD"

Meh 🫤

"Despite being really comfortable, these pants are far from durable. I have a belt-clip pouch that I hang off the pockets of all my work pants and it hasn’t been an issue until I did it with these pants. Within 4-5 uses, the pocket ripped right next to the “reinforced” part. The belt loops are also starting to come apart where they join the waist band from my belt pulling on them. I do love the light fabric, as I run pretty hot, but I wish there was better reinforcement of the pockets and belt loops."

Perfect

"Size, fit, cut, everything's perfect. I love those"

Marie-Claude M. (5/5)

Tissue paper quality

"These are NOT durrable. Im on my second pair because they are comfortable, but they do not last. I bought them a little loose for winter layering, so they are far from a tight fit. However I find myself mending and patching tears constantly. I work a pretty light duty job so i dont see how i could be overly rough with them. And at the inflated price of 140$, ill pass on another pair."
