"I have four pairs of dovetail pants and three pairs of shorts. I have worn only dovetail for the past year as I have been building my community woodworking shop. I did this on purpose because I wanted to test the product and see if we could become a distributor in our small retail area. I’m really unhappy with how each style of pant or short fits completely differently. I wear a size 6 in the shorts and a size 10 in the pants and I just ordered the brand new paprika pants in size 10 and probably should’ve ordered them in the 6. They anre so big on me I cannot wear them. I tried washing them in very hot water to shrink them, but they did not shrink. So that is a waste of money. I am contemplating giving them to a friend and ordering a size 6 because I love the colour but I don’t think I’m going to buy any more dovetail products. It’s a real shame because I believe in the vision, but the inconsistencies are too considerable. Furthermore, I find it very frustrating that the side pockets are not consistent on each pair of pants and as a result, I have slid my cell phone into a bottomless pocket and had it crash on the floor more times than I can tell you. A disgruntled wanna be fan."

Not “workwear”

"The fabric is way less durable than I hoped or expected. Soft but seems rather flimsy, will tear easily. Using the tool loop is useless as it causes the whole outfit to sag and hammer /etc will swing wildly. They are comfy but a bit too oversized, I’m swimming in it - wish it was slightly truer to size, it does make working in them a bit more awkward. The pockets are great though. Overall I would say they are cute, comfy, practical pockets, good for casual work or free flowing movement (farm work like weeding and csa prep etc), but not great for work where you’re carrying heavy rough materials or any actual tools."

Comfy as heck

"Soft, "lived-in"-feeling fabric with a drape very similar to linen. Definitely a relaxed fit compared to all my other Dovetail pants in the same size (snug and flattering). But with the lighterweight fabric I wouldn't want to size down to fit tighter, I suspect it would lose durability. It's meant to have a looser, breezy fit, just like the photos. I love the grey colour and black hardware, and the modified chest pocket is just the right size for a duckling or two."

Quality is just…terrible

"These fit, and I love all the pockets, but the quality just isn’t there. Almost see through fabric, piling and de-threading already, and some light runs in the fabric in certain places. This is my third order from Dovetail and I it’s my last, as I’ve had quality or sizing issues (a pair of pants I bought was labeled a 16x28 but was actually a 20x30) every time. I have no doubt that after a wash there will be lots more de-threading. This has happened with every item I’ve purchased."

Shortall

"I’m so happy with my hemp utility shortall purchase! They arrived on schedule and the fit is awesome. the fabric is soft and comfortable, perfect for upcoming warmer weather. The best part is the multitude of pockets to hold my everyday essential tools. This is the first time i’ve had secure pockets that prevent the yard sale when i bend over everything spills out of my button down work shirt. Game changer!! Muchas gracias!"
